As if I didn’t have enough games to play and get addicted to, Gradius V arrived in the mail a few days ago. I admit to paying quite a bit to get hold of this fantastic game, but I think it was totally worth it. Already had a few tries to freshen up my memory and it was just as fun as it was in the past.
Stay tuned for some in-game pictures of Gradius V in action in my living room.
For those of you who does not know Gradius V, please have a look at the video below. I found it on YouTube.
So, what games are you currently playing?
Would be great if you could post a comment and tell me what is going on in your gaming-life these days. Thanks in advance.
I’m a happy camper today! Why? Well, R-Type Final for the PlayStation 2 arrived in the mail today. Can’t wait to start playing it, so I guess this will be one of my shorter posts.
I also won an auction for Gradius V (PlayStation 2 game), which is another great shoot’em up. Eagerly waiting for it to arrive.
Anyway, here’s a few pics of my new game:

Nice manual as well. Lot’s of info to read, but I won’t bother with that, as I want to start playing right away.. hehe.. (photo by Old School Game Blog)
Anyone else playing or having played R-Type Final reading this? If yes, then I hope to hear from you. What is your opinion on the game?
Recently I received an e-mail from Mike of the It’s Brutal website. He informed me of an upcoming Amiga games competition being hosted by Lemon Amiga and the English Amiga Board. Please read on for more information!
It’s a Knockout! is a classic Amiga knock-out tournament run by the forum members of Lemon Amiga and English Amiga Board. Returning for a 4th time, the ever-popular knockout tournament takes centre stage once more.

Voting for the comp Starts Now (November 13th) and will remain open for two weeks. Once voting is closed competition will begin!! Voting: Lemon Amiga – EAB
The first round of competition will be a qualifying round. The following rounds will be run in a round-robin format until only 2 competitors remain! The final two will battle it out to be the “It’s a Knockout! 2012/13″ Champion.
Sounds great, doesn’t it? If you think you’ve got what it takes, why not sign up and compete with others? The voting has already started, so head over there and cast your votes for your favourite games.. You’ll find the links above.
I’ve participated in this competition in the past and it was a lot of fun. I felt I did fairly well, as I got a decent score in a pinball game.
Many, many years ago, when I was a kid, a friend of mine, my parents and I went to the city to do some shopping. The number one place for us kids to visit was the local software store. We didn’t have enough cash to afford the top games, since they tended to be expensive, so we seeked out the budget section instead. Back then one often chose which game to purchase by the cover and the screenshots, which ultimately lead to many disappointments amongst eager and young gamers.
On this trip I ended up getting Advanced Ski Simulator by Codemasters, while my friend picked up Into to the Eagles Nest by Mindscape. When I got back home I remember turning on the computer, inserting the disk, and waiting for it to load, with high expectations.. the disappointment was enormous.. The game was completely unplayable, boring and not any fun at all. I can describe it with one word; rubbish! It was actually so bad, that we caught a laughing fit while testing it!
Although we disliked it, the cover of the game says that ACE Magazine called the game “addictive”, so there are probably some people out there disagreeing with me.
I’ve embedded a video from YouTube below, so that you can watch the “gameplay” for yourself.. Enjoy! My friend was very happy with his purchase though, so that made up for some of the disappointment.
Have any of you made any bad purchases when it comes to games? Would love to hear your stories about it.
