Hi guys,

Like many of you, I’ve been collecting retro gaming stuff for years now. I haven’t written much about my collection on this blog, so I thought I’d better get started today.

The first item I want to show you is my original copy of Kick Off 2 for the Amiga. This legendary football game is still played today by people all around the world. There are even tournaments being held! Isn’t that amazing? Who would have thought that this old sports game would be so popular today? I wouldn’t. ;) It truly shows how important gameplay is when it comes to the lastability of a game.

Here’s a link to the official Kick Off 2 World Cup 2012 in Milano, Italy: http://www.ko-gathering.com/wc2012/

Anyway, I hereby present you with Kick Off 2 (Acid/Guildhall Leisure edition):

As you can see from the photos, this is not the first edition of the game. The first version came in 1990, while this one was released a few years later on. It is interesting to note that the box says it comes with a free Relokick disk for Amiga 1200 users. :) This is because the game isn’t really compatible with either the Amiga 1200 or 4000.

I don’t play these football games much anymore, but it has a dear place in my collection due to the memories I have of playing it in the past. Anyone else having fond memories of Kick Off by the way? I remember vividly playing it with my friends back then, especially on rainy days when no one went out to play football. ;)

If you want to read more about Kick Off 2, you can follow this link to the appropriate page on Lemon Amiga. :)

Have a nice day!

Big Batch of Amiga Magazines

While browsing Amibay about a week ago, I discovered that a guy named Rolux was selling off his collection of Amiga magazines. Having a lot of holes to fill in my own collection, I quickly went through his list. I found many magazines that I didn’t have. I contacted him to make a deal and a short while later a big (and heavy!) package (which was filled to the brink with golden oldies) arrived.

The box contained 14 issues of a Norwegian Amiga magazine called Amiga Forum. These issues are from early 1992 to the latter half of 1994. All issues contains everything from reviews of games to AMOS tutorials.

Amiga Forum magazines

A big bunch of Amiga Forum magazines! Look it's Super Frog!

I did also receive several English magazines like Amiga Format, CU Amiga and Amiga World. I’m particularly pleased with the Christmas issue of Amiga Format from 1993, as it contains a ton of cool game reviews.

Check out the Christmas issue of Amiga Format on the right hand side of the picture.. awesome!

It’s great reading old magazines. I often find interesting information in them. Sometimes I discover an old game for the first time thanks to a review! Other times it happens that I learn something new about ageing hardware or find some programming tips concerning AMOS. All great stuff.

Speaking of reviews. I took a quick and dirty snapshot of a review of The Settlers from one of my new magazines. Have a look! :)

An old review of The Settlers for the Amiga. It scored 94%!

It’s safe to say that my collection has increased in size and quality after this purchase. A big thanks must go to Rolux on Amibay for quick dispatch and friendly communication.
