A new website dedicated to AROS gaming has been launched. The site is called AROS Playground and looks very promising. 🙂
AROS is one of several Amigaoid operative systems, like AmigaOS and MorphOS, but it runs on ordinary PC’s that uses the x86 CPU.
The future is looking brighter and brighter for AROS. It’ll be interesting to follow the development of the OS in the future. 🙂 I really must install AROS on my laptop now.. it is long overdue.. 😉

I love seeing more and more operating systems coming out. It is also nice to see ones out there that doesn’t render old computers as useless, allowing those who cannot afford a new machine an opportunity to buy a used one, or still be able to use their old one without worrying about whether or not the larger company OS’s will no longer work or be available on their machines or the updates being discontinued.

I think AROS is excellent for older computers. It boots quickly, it’s very responsive and it doesn’t eat up much resources. I’m going to install it on a laptop I bought back in 2006. I’ll give you a sign once it is up and running. Want to do a video of it in action as well.

I would emphasize another aspect. Other than the ability to run on an older hardware, since there are lot of Linux distros that might run literally on everything. The thing I see interesting is variety and real free of choice. Tired of Linux as an alternative to Windows? Lets try something else!
It’s shame, but I was not aware I can run AROS on PC. I was even thinking that AROS is a commercial product. It does show how big my backlog is.

It’s great to have choices when it comes to OS’s. 🙂 A new version of MorphOS was released not long by the way. They’ve implemented support for old-school Powermac G4 laptops, so now you can have a portable Amiga. 😀
Are you considering giving AROS a go? It has come quite a long way now with some classy distributions available for download.

Soon I will have a spare desktop I can use for Aros. Looking really forward to get it up and running and maybe even doing some developing on it.

Please let me know what you think of AROS when it is up and running. I’m still in the “must get my arse into gear” mode, but will try to install it the upcoming week. AROS is gaining strength these days.. Hyperion must get that netbook out soon or it will be difficult to increase the userbase of AmigaOS 4 with larger numbers. Those that can’t afford an AmigaOS 4 system might be more tempted by AROS.

In had it running on one of my old laptops and I was impressed. But things changed already so it can only be better. I think we will see some delay in the release of the netbook. More like the end of this year or early next year. Hopefully a demo at AmiWest?
