Hope you are well and that you are looking forward to Christmas. Yes, it is already the middle (almost) of November and December is approaching fast.. Any particular wishes for Christmas? Perhaps something related to retro gaming, Amiga, Commodore? 😉 I know I have, but I will write more about that another day.
Now over to something different. You might be interested to hear that a new Amiga discussion forum has seen the light of day. The name of the forum is simply Amiga Forum and you can visit it by clicking on the link below:
It is very new, but already the board has 96 members. I have signed up myself, so please feel free to say hello if you see me there. I call myself AmigaOldskooler, just like on my Twitter profile.
My experience with the forum is very positive so far. Many helpful people there. I’m about to start a new journey, namely with an OS called MorphOS and got some good pointers by several forum members when I asked questions.

Old School Game Blog

Well, I would like to try modding an old xbox into a classic gaming machine (mame, snes, nes, etc.) or grab another 360 and try the jtag mod.
If I had the money I would like to piece together another tower with an hdmi port (or just get another laptop if that is cheaper), really good parts, have it run linux, and then turn that into a classic gaming machine.
I have been having trouble trying to get the version of MAME that I have to run a second controller so my nephew and I can play a lot of the games, but for some reason I cannot figure it out.

Wow, that sounds like a fun project! Modding an old Xbox is not a bad idea. 🙂

Ok, I installed Puppy Arcade on my tower, it installs and runs pretty smooth for an operating system. Plus it was pretty straight forward to set everything up. I installed an older version because the description they had for the latest one said it was for newer hardware.
The biggest issues I had with it was trying to use the rom-loader, which would execute to full-screen and you couldn’t navigate to any of the emulators so you could set the folders from where they grabbed the roms. I managed to get sound for the OS itself, but not for the one arcade emulator that I could get to work. One Snes emulator was very choppy when running the games, the other would boot up and then shutdown. The NES one did this as well.
It is great that it comes with a joystick calibration, but is meaningless when on a couple of the emulators themselves.
I think the issues might be the fact that the version I grabbed is kind of old. So I might try the newer ones. I think in all honesty Puppy Arcade is either made for better standing hardware or laptops. Or at least that is the impression I get. I’ll keep you posted after trying the later versions.

A GNU/Linux Arcade Distribution looks promising too. However it is a pain to find and install the bios collections, roms, games, etc…

Yes, that is true. 🙂 This forum is probably a response to A-EON/AmigaKit buying both Amiga.org and Amigaworld.net.
