Hi everyone,
Hope all is well. 🙂 Thanks for visiting my blog! Just got back from vacation and was excited to see some AmigaOS 4 related gaming news, which I thought I’d share with you.
Many of you have probably read about the upcoming production and release of the A1222 Plus from A-EON Technology and ACube Systems. If you haven’t, please have a look at the news here.
One aspect of the many related discussions found in forums, is that the A1222 Plus has an NXP P1022 CPU which lacks a normal FPU found in most PowerPC designs. Instead it has an SPE. Eliyahu explains what this means in his guide for the A1222, which you can read by following this link.
Due to this, some software needs to be optimized and recompiled to fit the new CPU. Fortunately, one of the well known developers on the platform, Daytona675x, is on the case!
He has now released two videos on YouTube showing how well the SPE versions of Tower 57 and Battle Squadron is running on the A1222 Plus. 🙂 I have embedded these below and I hope you will enjoy them. 🙂
Thanks again for visiting my blog. See you in another post here on Gaming on AmigaOS 4!
