BOING – Nr. 7 – October 2023 – French Amiga Magazine

Hello there,

Welcome to another post here on the Gaming on AmigaOS 4 blog! 🙂

Some might remember I wrote about the French paper Amiga magazine called BOING in the AmigaOS 4 Monthly Roundup for October 2023. I was interested in checking it out and placed an order for the latest issue.

Two days ago, I found a parcel in our mailbox from France and instantly knew what it contained. 😉 BOING had arrived!

Before I go on, I’ll point out that Boing is in French. If this was the 1990s, I would be stuck, but fortunately, we have some impressive tools on our smartphones these days to help us out. I can read the magazine using the camera mode in Google Translate. It works like a charm!

So, was the magazine any good? Oh yes, it is definitely good! I was surprised that it contained so much! Here is a photo of the contents:

As you can see, there is more AmigaOS 4-related content here than in the most recent issue of Amiga Future. You’ll also notice that it is in full color!

What I enjoyed reading the most, was for example the feature case on AAA Technology, which contained an interview with Laurent and Franck, known from Amedia Computer in France. There was also a great interview with George Sokianos a.k.a. Walkero, a well-known Amiga developer and now involved in the Webkit project for AmigaOS 4. Besides this, there was a good article about the A1222+.

BOING also covers other Amiga flavors. The rewrite of WipeOut for MorphOS is worth mentioning here, as well as AmiKit 12.

If you’re looking for a new Amiga paper magazine to read, I highly recommend checking out BOING. If you don’t know French, you can always turn to your smartphone to do your translation. 😉 I will continue buying it and I’m already looking forward to the next issue.

Thanks for reading, and see you in another post here on Gaming on AmigaOS 4! Please let me know in the comments if you’ve read Boing or if you decided to give it a go. I would love to hear what you think about this magazine. Thanks, and have a good evening!

    • Hi Sports Savvy! Thanks for commenting. 🙂 I agree, it is great there are still Amiga paper magazines being published. Apart from BOING, we’ve also got Amiga Future from Germany and Amiga Addict from the UK. Those are also worth checking it out. 🙂
